| Description: | Responsible for performing administrative and underwriting duties to support the mortgage loan function; achieving goals as established in the Mortgage Loan Department's annual operating plan. |
| Duties: | Reviews, analyzes appraisal and inspection reports and other documentation; underwrites all loans before closing; determines whether the appraisal and other information supports the purchase price; Computes qualifying ratios and analyzes credit worthiness; Performs desk reviews of appraisals, performs quality control checks of appraisals; Reviews the mortgage loan files after additional documentation has been received and prepares the file for review by the appropriate loan officer by reconciling income, appraisal value, credit history, or other discrepancies; Reviews commitment letters, adverse action letters and closing packages; Makes recommendations for approval or rejection of loans within defined limit of authority; determines and recommends the terms and conditions of the loan; May perform duties related to the closing of the loan as directed; Reviews and enters loan information into automated underwriting system; Underwrites and funds loans originated through secondary market; Oversees and directs the workflow within the Mortgage Loan Department; assists in the training of mortgage loan processing personnel as required; Provides technical support to the Mortgage Operations Manager; Achieves goals assigned to the Mortgage Loan Underwriter as part of the Mortgage Loan Department's annual operating plan. |
| Qualifications: | A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; specialized mortgage lending education and training; FHA DE license preferred; Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; thorough knowledge of mortgage lending regulations and procedures; a working knowledge of underwriting guidelines and loan documents; ability to analyze financial statements as well as loan and credit requests; visual and auditory skills; A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a related position normally required; Direct FHA experience; VA and LAPP experience preferred. |
